Attack On America
The terrorist aren't quite sure what trigger President Bush might pull if the USA has a major terrorist attack. This Bush factor forces caution on their part as to when they next attack the United States. With my meager power to surmise the Islamic mind (although I taught, trained and supervised Arabs in the Mid-East) they will want to hurt Bush as much as possible.
The Iranians (Shiite) poked President Carter in the eye when they released the embassy hostages the day he left office. The Sunni influenced the elections in Spain by bombing Madrid trains four days before the Spanish elections. Looking at just that when the attack comes may depend on the political polls just before November 2008. If not then I would suggest (guess) near the time of the swearing in of the next U.S. President.
This of course depends on a multitude of variables some being: If we don't open up another combat front; If the dollar doesn't collapse (see: "Run On The Dollar" October 15th, Briefly Briefing); If the Oil Exchange doesn't keep its currency the dollar.
Islamic victory will equal the collapse of the USA. The best and most ruinous collapse would be that of the economy. Any way you cut it, we are a capitalistic country and a destroyed economy would paralyze America.
Fifteen Dollars
Imagine a refugee, a 12 year old boy from Sudan, has his first day joining your family. He sets in front of your television fascinated number one by the TV itself and two by the culture this strange window in front of him reveals.
A pet food commercial comes on showing the cat's healthy belly and fur attributed to the science in the food designed by the pet food manufacturer. How with any other cat food the cat may suffer stomach problems so to be safe and to protect your cat, the extra cost of the cat food is well worth it.
A tear comes to the boy's eye remembering two weeks ago in Sudan the death of his younger brother dying of starvation.
This of course is just imagination. However, odds are that with the amount of refugees the U.S. takes in and with an average of two TVs in every home, this imagination could very easily be reality.
I don't have a solution to this situation. What a couple of people said does remain with me since I heard them say it. Joel Olsteen said a man told him if you have $15 in your pocket you are better off than 80% of the world's population. A missionary from Union County had just returned from the third world and told that so many people in the USA want to win the lottery when they don't understand that being born in America one has already won the lottery.

In The Media Mine
The successful media personalities are also at times the people you love to hate. A good friend handed me a news clipping which quoted a person saying that Rush Limbaugh is full of crap. I must agree Rush is at least full of himself and his audience for the most part love him for it.
Another personality becoming very powerful (like it or not Rush has power) is Lou Dobbs on CNN.
Where Rush is generally viewed by his fans as entertainment able to deliver a punch in the political arena, Lou is considered more of newsman able to deliver a blow in the political arena.
As the government moves to a greater control of the U.S. population with everything from legally ease dropping on our cell phones and email to forcing the national I.D. card on us next May, I can't help but think freedom of speech and freedom of the press may be being seriously looked upon as next.
Love or hate Rush or Lou as long as their careers go unfettered the canary in the coal mine still has air. Complete liberty at this time might be a stretch, but as long as there is chirping, what liberties have been restricted there may be enough air to breath to bring our liberties back.
