Lorimor City Council Meeting

Special Session

January 24, 2007    7:00 P.M.

 

The Lorimor City Council met in special session, Wednesday, January 24, 2007, with Mayor Forbes presiding.  Council members present:  Davis, Orwan, Schmidt, Tucker.  Wright was absent.

Orwan moved to approve the agenda with a second from Davis.  Vote – all ayes.  Motion carried.

Schmidt moved to enter into a closed session according to Iowa Code 21.5 (1) (j).  Second from Orwan.  Roll call vote – all ayes.  Motion carried. The Mayor announced that the Council would enter into a closed session at 7:02 P.M.   The regular meeting resumed at 7:19 P.M.  No action was taken on matters discussed during the closed session.

Orwan moved to approve the first reading of the amendment to Title II, Chapter 5,  INCREASING THE SALARIES OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS.  Schmidt seconded the motion.  Roll call vote:  Davis, Orwan, Schmidt – aye.  Tucker – nay.  Motion carried.

Discussion of the failure of dog owners to license their dogs was next on the agenda.  The Council is in agreement to enforce the dog ordinance which allows that all dogs must be licensed with the City.  Seales was directed to send a letter to all known dog owners that do not have current licenses for their dogs.  The dog owners will be given 15 days to license their dogs.  If the dog owners have not complied with the request after the 15 days, Seales is to file a complaint with the Magistrate’s Court for noncompliance of the Animal Control Ordinance.  There will no exceptions to this ruling by the Council.

The Council discussed several budget issues.

Schmidt moved to adjourn with a second from Davis.  Vote – all ayes.  Motion carried.  Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
