Cream of Broccoli Soup
- 1 1/2 lbs broccoli
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup)
- 3 cups whipping (heavy) cream
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 medium rips celery, chopped (about 1 cup)
- 2 bay leaves
- 1can (14 1/2 ounces) chicken broth
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg or freshly ground sage
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan Cheese
