The link below is the 2014 State Audit for the City of Lorimor.
There are remedies that were listed by the State Auditor in the 2014 Audit that the City agreed to comply with. Most of them haven't been discussed in a council much less corrected and implemented. The audit was done in the fall of 2014 and the audit report was given to the City in December of 2014. There was a petition signed by at least 75 people to have another audit done. Don't you think that the remedies the State Auditor recommended and the City agreed to do should be done before the next audit is done?
I think the neglegence of the current City council really stands out and I hope the State Auditor takes a better look at how the current City Council is doing business.

Over Sight Issues
After reviewing the Lorimor Audit that was done in 2014, the remedies for oversight were reveiwed. It is apparent that some of the ovesight issues the City agreed to correct haven't been done yet or even been discussed by the Council or the Mayor. It will be hard to explane in a review audit if not done. I would suggest to the Council and Mayor to get these issues corrected before the next election or if some one is appointed by the Council to replace an eclected or appointed position.
I would also suggest to the Council and Mayor to make sure insurance that relates to their appointies (City Clerk and City Worker) be in place before anything happens. Line Backer insurance, Employee Theft or Disohnesty, and Bonding Requirements for anyone handling public funds or condidential material. Otherwise the City Council and Mayor will be responsible for paying any expenses created to correct any wrongfull act incurred.
In other words pay for not fufilling your fudciary responsibilities or oath of office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oversight
Very well said Dennis. Why is it that the Council and the Mayor all agreed to follow the recommendations of the State Auditor, yet nothing is being done. I would personaly like to know why our City Government is blantantly not fulfilling their Fudciary Responsibility to the Community. If the Mayor and City Council Members no longer have an interest in the community or it's residents, then they should seriously look at stepping down from their positions!!!!!!
Minutes not being signed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was going over the oversite issues that the State Auditors Office cited the City for, I found that the City minutes didn't have the disbersements listed in the City minutes and the minutes were not signed off before publishing as stated in the recomendation from the auditors and agreed to by the City. None of the minutes that I have seen are done as listed above. I also saw other recomendations that were done as agreed to.
I hope the city corrects these problems before the City is audited again. They will fail that part of the audit. It is amazing that the State doesn't reveiw these audits for Cities less than 1,000 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Insurance Coverage (Bonding Requirment)
I noticed that the City did have there bond coverage for City Workers , City Council, and Mayor approved by the audit. The coverage has to be reveiwed each year to make sure there is proper coverage. I hope the City has done that this year to make sure they have the proper coverage. If they don't they will fail a reveiw audit.
Orersight Issues?
I wonder when the current City Council and Mayor are going to start addressing the oversight issues that they agreed to correct in the Lorimor Audit by the State Auditor's Office last fall.
Since there was a petition signed by 75 taxpayors from Lorimor to have a review audit done a few weeks back.
It is not going to look good for the council for not even having a meeting to address those issues before the review audit is done.
It is bad enough that there was no background check, reference check, or a declaration sheet filled out and signed by the current City Clerk for the current City Council to review before she was appointed to fill that positition.
I hope the City Council Members realize that they are up for election in November!!!
They don't seem to be very responsible in protecting public Funds.
Oversight
It is very concerning that the Current City Council and Mayor have shown ZERO interest in protecting the communities public funds, I for one am outraged as they are not protecting those who voted for them and elected them to their positions. I would think that all residents of Lorimor would be ready for a change in City Government and make sure to vote on November 3rd to ensure that they have a voice in selecting the new Council Members to represent them.
