A good book of Scripture to learn all about heresies and their effect on the early church would be 1 John and the book of Jude. Therein we find these two Apostles addressing the problem of heresies and heretics as their abominable theologies are spouted forth. You see, this is at least two generations into the Christian life as well as the church. New philosophies and theologies are coming to the forefront to replace the Gospel and these are disrupting the church. We should not be surprised though because in the year 1831, we find a revelation which addresses these very same things in the early Restoration. D&C 50:2a "Hearken, O ye elders of my church, and give ear to the voice of the living God; and attend to the words of wisdom which shall be given unto you, according as ye have asked and are agreed as touching the church, and the spirits which have gone abroad in the earth. Behold, verily I say unto you, that there are many spirits which are false spirits, which have gone forth in the earth, deceiving the world: and also Satan hath: sought to deceive you, that he might overthrow you. Behold, I the lord have looked upon you, and have seen abominations in the church that professes my name; but blessed are they who are faithful and endure, whether in life or in death, for they shall inherit eternal life." Heresies as well as heretics were present then and they are still present in the church today.

March 23, 2008 - Mount Moriah Article

This name occurs twice in the Bible. In Gen 22:2 Abraham was commanded to go to the land of Moriah and offer his son as a burnt offering. The only note of location in the text is that the place was three days distance from Beersheba. The other Biblical reference is 2 Chron 3:1, which names the site of the building of Solomon's temple as Mount Moriah. Christian tradition has related both references to the site of the Dome of the Rock mosque, where there is a huge rock 17.7 by 15.m. (58 by 51 ft.), called the Sacred Rock. The rock appears as though it may have been used for sacrifices in ancient times. There are channels cut into it, and there is a large room cut out of the rock beneath. (Beersheba to Jerusalem is about 50 miles distance.)

The struggle continues as Nation after Nation, special interest group after special interest group, continually line up against the Israelis and their attempt to protect themselves. The United Nations is a weak and impotent organization in this struggle for safety and security. They have accomplished absolutely nothing since they replaced the Old "League of Nations" in 1945. Do not depend on the United Nations to do anything except get in the way. And look for more Anti-Semitic alignment from those Nations who, according to the Apostle Paul in Romans Romans 1:25 "changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator."

What is there about the city of Jerusalem that is causing all of the problems the world seems to be encountering these days? Nations are going to war over the old city. People are being killed. People are taking sides with either the Muslims, the Jews, and the Christians. Some have no interest at all. Our two major political parties are even divided according to their constituents.

It is the holiest city of Judaism and is of key importance to Christianity and Islam. Two alliances are growing before our eyes in a monumental struggle for control of the Middle East and its vast oil treasure. Russia and Iran are forging stronger ties as evidenced by Russia's sale of one billion dollars worth of missiles to Iran a couple of years ago. That's two huge military deals in a little over two years.

At the same time, the U.S. is acting to counteract the growing influence of Iran as it attempts to build a "Shiite Crescent" stretching from Iran to Iraq to Syria and into Hesbollah's stronghold in Lebanon. The U.S. announced a $20 billion sale of weaponry to Persian Gulf States to strengthen moderate Middle East allies in primarily Sunni-led governments. These Gulf States include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. These Gulf States are critical for U.S. military operation. Bases in the Gulf region host about 40,000 U. S. troops with an additional 20,000 American naval troops afloat offshore. In addition to the Gulf State arms deals, the U.S. has also agreed to new 10-year military aid packages to Israel and Egypt. The deal with Egypt basically renews the $1.3 billion in military aid that Egypt has received from the U.S. every year since 1987.

The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.
